Benten Films to distribute LOL

Upstart DVD distributor Benten Films has announced their first acquisition: Joe Swanberg’s LOL. (Actually they announced it in February, but I just now found out about it). LOL is Swanberg’s second feature following Kissing on the Mouth (which will be reviewed here soon). I don’t know much about Benten Films yet, but the guys running it seem to definitely have their hearts in the right place. Andrew Grant (president/founder) is a former blogger and film writer and Aaron Hillis (Vice-President, Acquisitions) is the director of the documentary Fish Kill Flea. They also have Ryko Distribution as a parent company. With all of these elements, Benten definitely has the potential to pull off some very interesting releases.
