It’s definitely in the works. In the very near future, iTunes is going to open it’s doors to at least some independent films. Once that happens, it’s a whole new ballgame. CinemaTech has been filing reports from SXSW and has reported back on a few recent conversations.
- IODA (The Independent Online Distribution Alliance) is already in talks with Apple. IODA is reponsible for getting independent music on the service.
- According to Filmbaby, the door could open as soon as this summer with a 70/30 split in favor of the producer. Movies would have to be converted to iTunes format by a third party digitizing firm which could cost around $150.
For the rest of the details, head over to CinemaTech.
