Pre-configured HD editing workstations
-
A while back we mentioned an article written by Mike Curtis about how to configure an HD workstation. In case you didn’t know, Mike writes the blog HD For Indies which has become the definitive source for information about shooting and editing indies in HD. The DV article was great, but Mike has taken things one step further: he has partnered with Silverado systems to sell pre-configured uncompressed HD editing workstations. The systems are available in four configurations ranging from a $8,999 system for the truly starving indie type to a $23,077 system for the well-heeled solo operator. I’m most interested in the “indie bang for buck” system that costs $17,124 (Not that I can afford it right now anyway!). Each product info page has notes from Mike and upgrade suggestions. Even if you decide not to purchase one of these configurations, you will get a lot of very helpful information just from reading Mike’s notes.
