Witchouse 3: Demon Fire
By John Oak Dalton • Aug 7th, 2003 • Category: Horror, ReviewsThis very polished horror outing has a contemporary vibe, a different outlook than the previous films, and a very eye-catching cast in a story of three women whose complex relationships blow wide open during a particularly volatile beach-house stay.
Tanya Dempsey plays a young woman escaping from a troubled relationship by visiting two friends, played by Debbie Rochon and Tina Krause. The duo turn out to have a few problems of their own, seemingly egged on by the dark presence of a witch named Lilith (played by fan fave Brinke Stevens). Soon tempers are rising and bodies are falling.
Tempe’s niche seems to be producing DVDs brimming with neat extras, and this one is no exception. There are tons of commentary tracks, behind the scenes footage, interviews, shorts, trailers, stills, outtakes, and more… easily surpassing the length of the feature itself.
Witchouse 3 is witty and sharp, with a cast of heavy hitters that are like The Hours of b-moviedom; all three of the leads are knockout talents. And on the production side, J.R. Bookwalter again shows what professionalism at all levels can bring to a microcinema-sized budget.
